Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary
Scholarship for SCBNA student members.

The Southern Connecticut Black Nurses Association, Inc. is accepting applications for two $750.00 scholarships for active SCBNA student members. The scholarship is funded by Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary. The students must be in good academic standing and are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate nursing program.

The following criteria must be met for consideration as a candidate:

1. Active SCBNA student membership
2. A resident of the greater New Haven area.
3. Completed application and required essay.
4. A copy of your most recent semester transcript with grades and a cumulative grade point average.
5. Letter of recommendation from a teacher, advisor, or counselor.
6. Your GPA must meet your schools criteria for academic eligibility.
7. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 5, 2008.

Scholarships recipients will be notified by April 11, 2008.
The awardees must be present to accept the award at the 15th Annual SCBNA Scholarship and Awards luncheon on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Fantasia’s of North Haven, Connecticut.


$500 Book Awards for Minority Nursing Students

The Southern Connecticut Black Nurses’ Association, Inc. is accepting applications for its annual nursing book awards. Two $500.00 book awards will be presented. The awards are given to nursing students who identify themselves as belonging to an ethnic minority group, currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate nursing program. The award is to help defray the cost of textbooks.

The following must be completed in order to be considered for this award:

1. Complete application and required essay.
2. A copy of your most recent semester transcript with grades and a cumulative grade point average.
3. Recommendation letter from an advisor, teacher, or counselor.
4. GPA must meet your schools criteria of academic eligibility.
5. Completed application materials must be postmarked by April 5, 2008.
